Walking along the Promenade Lorière Simon, the beautiful long boulevard with planetrees and palms, you get the real Riviera feel. A game of jeu de boules with the locals, an ice cream at Fleurs d'Italie, a glass of rose on the terrace at Le Wafou, strolling along cosy shops in the pedestrianized streets, a visit to the covered market, good food in one of the many restaurants or take the ferry boat to Saint Tropez. Sainte-Maxime has it all!
The green ferry boat is worthwhile
From the port of Sainte-Maxine you sail by ferry in 20 minutes to Saint Tropez - without a traffic jam! It's a nice crossing which ends in the fashionable port of Saint Tropeze with its spectacular yachts. Also very useful for when you want to visit Le Marché Saint Tropez on Tuesdays or Saturdays. A trip not to be missed, no doubt the trendiest and liveliest market in southern France.
Beachclubs la Nartelle
The best beach clubs can be found at La Nartelle, west of downtown. La Croisette and Beauvallon also offer good beaches. In total you will find over 11 miles of sandy beaches at Sainte Maxime!
Watersports
For water sports enthusiasts, there are extensive facilities. You can rent a sailboat or motor yacht in the harbor. Also, there are several places to rent watercraft, jetskis and surfboards. Do you want to dive? That is possible at H2O Sainte Maxime Dive Center.
Animation for kids
There is also plenty of entertainment for kids. On the boulevard there are several roundabouts and a train. And for older children, there is the Aqua Scope, an underwater boat and Aqualand just outside the center of Sainte Maxime.
Golfcourts in Saint-Maxime
For golfers Sainte-Maxime is a top destination. At La Nartelle is the slightly elevated Golf Blue Green de Sainte-Maxime and more in the direction of Saint Tropez is the seafront Golf de Beauvallon. Also nearby are the golf courses of Saint Endreol and Golf de Roquebrune, within short driving distance.
If you drive along the coastal road towards Saint Tropez and Grimaud, then in about 10 minutes you will pass Beauvallon with her mundane golf course, surrounded by chic Domaines with luxurious villas and beautiful sandy beaches.
Music in the summer months
In the summer there are many restaurants and cafes along the boulevard featuring live music. Or maybe you venture a bit a gamble at the Casino on the boulevard? On the promenade there are two Petit Casinos where you can easily do small shopping-errands. There are two very large branches of Carrefour. The covered market in the town center offers fresh fish and other fresh products.
Le Plan de la Tour
Le Plan de la Tour is less than fifteen minutes away from Sainte-Maxime and a half an hour drive from Saint Tropez, but has a totally different atmosphere. Here you will find the tranquility of a charming village in the shade of planetrees.
The road to Plan de La Tour does not go anywhere else, so there is no passers traffic. As a result, the village has managed to preserve its relaxing, Provencal atmosphere. Because Le Plan de la Tour is located in the heart of the Maures massif, it is surrounded by natural beauty and is therefore a good starting point for hikers.
