In the Provence Verte you will see pines and green oaks everyhwere alternated with vineyards and medieval villages. And even in summer, it is wonderfully quiet. You can enjoy the wonderful nature wether it is by bicycle, walking, on a horseback or in the water, in the Provence Verte you will have numerous options to enjoy all kinds of outdoor activities. Brignoles for example has a total of 400 km mountain bike cycling paths for all ages and levels.
Castle Brignoles
Château d’Entrecasteaux is the most beautiful castle in the Var and only a 25 minute drive from Brignoles. The castle dates back to the 11th century, and over the years beautifully restored. The castle is privately owned, but there are interesting castle tours. It also offers various concerts.
Holiday destination Hyeres
Hyeres has traditionally been a popular holiday destination for celebrities, and the very wealthy. The beautiful villas built early in the last century can still be admired. You will find very nice restaurants in the old town (especially in the Rue de Limans), at the harbour and at the beaches of Hyeres.
Activities Hyeres
Besides hiking, cycling and horse riding there are also plenty activities for water sport lovers. On land, at sea or in the air, it's all possible in Hyères. However, a visit to one of the three golden islands off the coast should not be missed: Ile de Porquerolles is considered as the pearl and the smaller island Ile de Port is still untouched and very suitable for hiking. Last but not least, Ile du Levant is the third island with also an amazing landscape. The islands are accessible by ferry.
The beautiful landscape of Hyères is very diverse. Hyeres has at least 35 kilometers of coastline with sandy beaches and a beautiful azure sea. Besides this beautiful coastline Hyeres also offers beautiful routes such as Le parcours cyclable du Littoral with a breathtaking coastal landscape.
Toulon
The history of Toulon is closely intertwined with the French shipping. The most pittoresque spots of Toulon can be found in and around La Cité. Insidertip: go visit Mont Faron, a 584 meters high mountain overlooking the city Toulon. The top can be reached either by a cable car rom Toulon or by steep and narrow road which ascends from the west side and descends on the east side. It goes without saying that the view over the harbor of Toulon is amazing.
