Correns is a tiny village with about 800 inhabitants in the Provence Verte. Nature in and around Correns is beautiful and invites you to walk. On the river Argens you can make wonderful canoe trips, a fun activity for the whole family. In the neighborhood of Correns there are a number of villages which are also worth a visit, such as Cotignac, Tourtour and Entrecasteaux. The beautiful abbey in Le Thoronet is only 24 km away from Correns.
What makes the small village of Correns so famous? In the first place, this village is the first 'bio village' of France. This means that all arable farmers work in a strictly organic way. The villagers themselves are especially proud of the production of their beautiful, organic wines.
The small village also owes its fame to Brad Pitt and Angeline Jolie who had settled in Correns since 2008. The number of travelers who searched for this village has increased considerably since then. The villagers remain sober under the interest of their village. In fact, there is even a complaint about noise; the Pitt family prefers to travel by helicopter. Meanwhile, the Hollywood couple has separated and also the helicopter flights are significantly reduced.
In Correns, you can have good food at Auberge du Parc. This restaurant is from the Dutchman Onno Stijl. He prepares a Menu du Marche daily, based on fresh products available in the region. You can have lunch for 25 to 30 euros and even in the evening you will only lose 35 euros for a dinner. Immediately a good opportunity to try the wines of Château Miraval!
The rosé of Château Miraval captured the 84th place in the annual top 100 of the American wine magazine WineSpectator in 2013, making it the highest rated rosé in the list. Since then, this rosé may therefore call itself the best rosé in the world.
Not everybody agreed with that. The rosé, the result of a collaboration between the aforementioned Hollywood couple and the internationally respected wine family Perrin, tastes great. The wine is tasty, but not exclusive by the meaning of many other wine connoisseurs. According to the experts, more delicious rosés are made in Provence that are less pricey ...
So the taste of wine can be disputed ... We say, taste the rosé and judge for yourself. The demand for this rosé, despite all the stories, was greater than the wine chateau could handle, so it can be difficult to get a bottle. À votre santé!
